TATMADAW columns have retaken control of Sinswe Village along the Kamamaung-Papun route after security operations against combined KNU, KNLA and PDF forces, according to a report.
The columns
began operations to reopen the route on 5 May 2026, after the joint forces had
temporarily controlled sections of the corridor. They progressively regained
control of several villages, most recently Hpalongyi Village on 7 September,
before retaking Sinswe Village on the evening of 27 September.
According to
the report, the security forces engaged in 65 clashes during the operations and
seized 11 temporary outposts, 13 bodies, 15 firearms, 24 FPV drones, mines,
walkie-talkies and other equipment. Some security personnel were also killed in
the fighting.
The report
accused the joint forces of using civilian buildings as defensive positions,
extorting and looting residents and vehicles, destroying roads and bridges with
mines, and restricting travel and trade along the route.
Security
columns, working with residents, will continue operations to reopen the
remaining sections of the Kamamaung – Papun route. Authorities also plan to
repair damaged infrastructure, clear mines and rehabilitate schools, health
facilities, religious buildings and homes.
