President U Min Aung Hlaing arrives in Cambodia for State Visit

 

A high-level Myanmar delegation led by President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing left Nay Pyi Taw Airport by special aircraft yesterday morning to pay a State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The President and party were seen off at the airport by Vice-President U Nyo Saw, Vice-President Nan Ni Ni Aye, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, and officials from the Cambodian Embassy and Military Attaché Office in Myanmar.

The President was accompanied by Union Ministers U Tin Maung Swe, Dr Kan Zaw and U Maung Myint, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Win Than, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, deputy ministers and officials.

During the visit, the President of Myanmar will meet the President of the Senate (Acting Head of State) of Cambodia to hold bilateral talks, and meet with the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia to exchange views on the further strengthening of the existing friendly relations between Myanmar and Cambodia, enhancing cooperation between the two governments, parliaments and peoples, and promoting cooperation in the economic, cultural and other sectors. Furthermore, the itinerary includes visits to prominent sites and ancient pagodas in Cambodia.

The special aircraft carrying the high-level Myanmar delegation arrived at Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, at 10:40 am local standard time. The President and his entourage were warmly welcomed by senior officials from the Cambodian government, led by Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology Mr Thor Chetha of Cambodia, Cambodian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Cheng Manith, Myanmar Ambassador to Cambodia U Kyaw Soe Min, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Zaw Win, staff and families.

On the occasion, the Cambodian Guard of Honour took up positions on both sides of the red carpet and saluted, while two Cambodian children presented bouquets. Cambodian people also warmly welcomed the high-level Myanmar delegation by waving bouquets while holding photographs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing and His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
