Myanmar Nets US$225M from Fish Exports to 40 Nations

 

Myanmar exported more than 300 species of fishery products to over 40 countries in the first five months of the 2026-2027 financial year (April-August), generating over US$225 million in export revenue, according to the Department of Fisheries in Nay Pyi Taw.

Total export volume during this period exceeded 130,411 tonnes. Myanmar primarily exports fishery products to Japan, countries in the Middle East, European Union member countries, Malaysia, Taipei Province of China and Australia. Myanmar Fisheries Federation and the Department of Fisheries are working closely to bolster exports.

“Myanmar conveyed over 130,411 tonnes of fishery products to about 40 countries, earning more than US$225 million. The main destinations include China, Thailand and the countries in the Middle East and Europe,” said an official from the Department of Fisheries in Nay Pyi Taw.

The department and exporters are coordinating to ensure continuous shipments and to meet the specific requirements of each buyer country, particularly for markets like China that enforce strict COVID-free certification for fishery products.
