Efforts are underway to establish fast, cost-effective and efficient freight transport networks between Myanmar and Chongqing, China, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To enhance cooperation
in the freight transport sector between Myanmar and Chongqing, business
networking meetings between the Myanmar International Freight Forwarders
Association (MIFFA) and Chongqing business and logistics operators were held in
cooperation with the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Chongqing and the China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT-Chongqing).
Several business
networking meetings were held at different locations, including an introductory
meeting between MIFFA and Chongqing business and logistics operators at the
conference hall of CCPIT-Chongqing, a networking meeting between MIFFA and
logistics operators in Yuzhong District, organized in collaboration with the
Yuzhong District Foreign Affairs Office at the World Financial Centre (WFC),
and an introductory meeting between MIFFA and logistics operators in Liangjiang
New Area, organized in cooperation with the Liangjiang New Area Federation of
Returned Overseas Chinese (Chongqing). These business networking sessions took
place during a visit by a 30-member delegation led by MIFFA Chairman U Kyaw
Lwin Oo, which met with economic organizations in Chongqing from 4 to 9
September.
The MIFFA delegation
also visited Chongqing’s Guoyuan Port, a maritime transport hub and a key node
on the China-Myanmar trade route, as well as the air cargo and e-commerce
departments at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and the Chongqing
International Expo Centre (Myanmar Jade Exhibition Hall).
Through these
networking meetings, the Myanmar delegation had the opportunity to study the
development of Chongqing’s freight transport network and the achievements of
the International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), while exploring
opportunities to strengthen trade and logistics connectivity between Myanmar
and Chinese entrepreneurs and establish cooperative partnerships.
