THE signing ceremony for five Memorandums of Understanding on the implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India was held at the Ministry of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union
Minister for National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U
Aung Kyaw Hoe, deputy ministers from relevant Ministries, senior officials and
Mr Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India to Myanmar, Mr Amit Shreeansh, First
Secretary and representatives from the Embassy of India.
The ceremony featured the signing of
five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) by representatives from the relevant
ministries, namely the Memorandum of Understanding for Establishment of Media
Training Centre by the Ministry of Information, the Memorandum of Understanding
for the Solar Power Project for QuakeHit Rural Areas by the Ministry of
Cooperatives and Rural Development, the Memorandum of Understanding for the
Purchase of a Construction Machinery Simulator and Engine Cut Section Model to
be used as Teaching Tools at the Central Training Centre and the Memorandum of
Understanding for the Procurement of Construction Equipment System Trainers for
Central Training Centre by the Ministry of Construction, and the Memorandum of
Understanding for Conservation of Man Aung Yadana Pagoda by the Ministry of
Culture, Hotels and Tourism respectively. The MOUs were signed by Mr Amit
Shreeansh, First Secretary, Embassy of India, on behalf of the Government of
India.
The Indian Government will grant a
total amount of US$244,068, and Joint Project Monitoring Committees (JPMC) will
be formed in order to monitor and facilitate the progress of the projects.
In FY 2026-2027, a total of ten QIP
projects will be implemented, comprising the five QIP projects signed yesterday
and additional five projects to be supported by the Government of India.
