Falam MEB resumes pension payment services

 

PENSION payments to retired civil servants have resumed at Falam Myanma Economic Bank for the first time after nearly two years of suspension due to terrorist attacks. Banking services were suspended in November 2024, and the bank reopened on 6 July 2026, after Falam was brought back under control in April.

The urban, political, defence, police and bank pensions are now being paid. Pensioners who had been displaced and were unable to collect their pensions must reapply at Falam Myanma Economic Bank. Those applying to receive pensions in Falam for the first time may apply in person from1st to 8th of each month.

Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thant Zaw Lwin, Chin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Win Zaw Oo and members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee inspected the pension payment process and encouraged retired employees receiving their pensions.

The deputy minister and party also inspected Surbung Airport, including damage to the main terminal, control tower, staff housing, equipment and runway. Officials explained the damage and the necessary rehabilitation and repair work.

Surbung Airport, built for K43.79 billion as Chin State’s first aviation gateway, received its first test landing by an ATR 72 aircraft on 27 October 2020. Parts of the airport infrastructure and equipment were damaged or lost during the terrorist incidents, causing huge losses to the country and people.

Rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts are now being accelerated in Chin State under the guidance of the Head of State and the supervision of committees led by deputy ministers and relevant officials.
