Thayezay-Taungpyone train service resumes

 



The Thayezay-Taungpyone train service has commenced operations with a total of eight coaches, comprising six ordinary-class coaches and two brake coaches. The trains will depart daily from Thayezay Station for Taungpyone Station at 7 am and 1:30 pm, while trains from Taungpyone Station to Thayezay Station will depart at 9 am and 4:15 pm.

The fare has been set at K1,000 per passenger. The opening ceremony for the Thayezay-Taungpyone train service took place at the platform of Thayezay railway station yesterday.

Mandalay Region Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Kyaw Moe, region chief minister U Myo Aung and relevant officials attended the event and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the train service.

They also took the RBE train to Taungpyone station and inspected the needs. They paid homage to Taungpyone Pagoda constructed by King Anawrahta, and observed the Taungpyone festival goers and stalls.

Necessary repair and maintenance works have been carried out to resume train services on the Mandalay-Madaya railway section. During the period when trains cannot operate on the Mandalay-Madaya section, the Thayezay-Taungpyone service is being operated throughout the 10-day festival period to facilitate convenient travel for the public at an affordable fare and enable them to travel comfortably and safely. Moreover, the Myohaung-Madaya railway route is also being repaired to resume train services on the Mandalay-Madaya railway.
