The 2026 APEC Customs Business Dialogue was held in Dalian, China, from 20 to 21 August.
A Myanmar
delegation led by Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue U Han Win Aung
attended the dialogue and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on
cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters.
During the
morning session of the first day, participants discussed promoting technology
and innovation, modern customs cooperation and partnership building, trade
facilitation, food safety, and strengthening supply chain connectivity.
In the
afternoon, Deputy Minister U Han Win Aung and his delegation met with the
Chinese customs deputy minister and officials. They discussed enhancing
technical cooperation and capacity building between the two countries, as well
as strengthening cooperation along the Myanmar-China border, and subsequently
signed the MoU. On the second day of the dialogue, participants discussed the
use of AI technology and digital transformation to promote cross-border trade
in the Asia-Pacific region, and measures to enhance the stability, resilience
and predictability of supply chains.
Senior
government officials from the customs, finance and agriculture sectors of APEC
members, representatives of international organizations, business leaders from
China and other countries, and representatives of academic institutions
attended the dialogue. The deputy minister-led delegation arrived back in
Myanmar yesterday evening.
