A mobile medical team provided healthcare services to 808 ethnic residents in Mongmao Township, Wa Special Region 2, Shan State (North), on 30 July under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
The outreach
programme was jointly carried out by the Pangsang Township Public Health
Department, the Wa Health Department and partner organizations.
During the
mission, 151 people received blood tests for HIV, sexually transmitted
infections (STIs), hepatitis B and C, dengue fever and malaria. Another 202
residents underwent chest X-rays and sputum tests for tuberculosis, with
treatment provided where necessary.
The team also
administered vitamin A supplements, anthelmintics and routine vaccinations to
469 children.
In addition,
health workers conducted public health education sessions and distributed
insecticide-treated mosquito nets to local residents.
