AFTER receiving a report from the cargo ship MV Oceanstar that the vessel MV ATK Nyein had sunk 27.5 nautical miles west of Kalakot Island, the Tatmadaw (Navy) carried out a rescue operation.
The sunken
vessel was located at 6:30 pm on 8 July. The 12 crew members on board were
rescued and taken aboard a Tatmadaw vessel, where they received medical checks
and were provided with clothing and food. They were later handed over to the
relevant authorities at the Yazamin Bridge in Mawlamyine Township at 10 am
yesterday.
