THE National Defence and Security Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held the Kathina robe offering ceremony for 2025 at the Aggadhipati Sasana Beikman in the precinct of Maravijaya Buddha Park of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory yesterday morning.
Acting
President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State
Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw
Kyu Kyu Hla attended the ceremony to offer Kathina robes and alms to members of
the Sangha.
Also,
present at the ceremony were Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka
Committee, Presiding Patron of Thanlyin’s Minkyaung Pahtamabyan Buddhism
Learning Centre Aggamaha Pandita, Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta
Candima Bhivamsa, Secretary of SSMNC Presiding Patron of New Masoeyein
Monastery of Mandalay, Dhammathameikdi Monastery Sayadaw Aggamaha Pandita,
Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja, Maha Dhammakathika Bahujanahitadhara Bhaddanta
Vasettha Bhivamsa, Ovadacariya Sayadaws of Uppatasanta Pagoda Board of
Trustees, and 27 invited members of the Sangha.
The
Senior General paid homage to the Maravijaya Naungdawgyi Buddha Image in the
Beikman building and offered meals in the alms-bowl, flowers, water, oil lights
and fruits.
The
Senior General, his wife and attendees viewed around the display of Padethabin
structures decorated with offerings.
The
Senior General, his wife and congregation took the Nine Precepts from Thanlyin
Minkyaung Sayadaw. Members of the Sangha recited the Metta Sutta.
The
Senior General and his wife offered Kathina robes and alms to Thanlyin
Minkyaung Sayadaw and Abbot of Sein Raza Sasana Linkaya Buddhism Learning
Centre of Pobbathiri Township, Bhaddanta Vajirapani Lankara Bhivamsa.
The
Commission ViceChairman, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and his wife Daw Than Than
Nwe also donated Kathina robes and offerings to the SSMNC Secretary, Presiding
Patron of New Masoeyein Monastery of Mandalay Dhammatheikdi Monastery Sayadaw.
Commission
member and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Commission member and Executive Chief U
Aung Lin Dwe and his wife, Commission member and Joint Executive Chief General Ye
Win Oo and his wife, commission members and their wives, Union-level
dignitaries, Union ministers and their wives, senior Tatmadaw officers from the
Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives donated Kathina robes and alms
to members of the Sangha.
The
Senior General and his wife, together with the congregation, listened to the
question and answer session of Member of the Nay Pyi Taw Sangha Nayaka
Committee, Administrator Sayadaw of Ngwetaung Tawya Moastery of Tatkon
Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Kodañña and Member of the State
Central Working Committee of the Sangha Abbot of Pyinmana’s Ohntaw Monastery
Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Tissa.
SSMNC
Secretary Dhammatheikdi Monastery Sayadaw delivered a sermon while the Senior
General, his wife and congregation shared merits gained.
After
the ceremony, the Senior General and his wife, together with the congregation,
offered day meals to members of the Sangha led by Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw.
Also,
present at the ceremony together with the Senior General and his wife were
commission members and their wives, Union-level dignitaries, Union ministers
and their wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior Tatmadaw officers
from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay
Pyi Taw Command and officials.
At
the donation ceremony, the value of the Kathina robe offering for 2025 amounted
to K167,790,400 including 49 Padethabin structures decorated with offerings
worth K79,191,050 and K8,599,350 in cash.
