SAC member inspects Grade 12 student training camps

 

State Administration Council (SAC) Member Daw Dwe Bu arrived in Myitkyina, Kachin State, yesterday morning and visited local high schools where Grade 12 students are undergoing subject-specific camp-style training for the upcoming matriculation examinations.

Accompanied by Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, state-level officials and departmental heads, the SAC member inspected the Matriculation Exam refresher courses conducted at the Myitkyina Basic Education High School No 3. A total of 410 Grade 12 students from eight high schools in the town are being trained by subject teachers. Officials also inspected arrangements made for providing lunch and dinner to boarding students.

The team then visited Myitkyina No 1 Basic Education High School in Thida Ward, where 421 students from six local schools are also attending training camps. Daw Dwe Bu instructed education officials to ensure that all Grade 12 students are given the opportunity to retake the exam as per the initial list of candidates.

Later, the SAC member attended a donation ceremony at the Kachin State Government Office in Myitkyina, where the People’s Government of Mangshi Prefecture under Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China, donated 100 prefabricated shelters and 312 tarpaulin sheets for earthquake-affected people in Kachin State. The state government expressed appreciation by presenting certificates of honour to the Chinese delegation.

In the afternoon, the State Administration Council member and party visited the “Phyo Wai Wai” paper and book production facility, located in the Myitkyina Industrial Zone. The business was expanded with over K200 million from the first- and second-year national economic development funds. At the factory, they inspected the ongoing production of school notebooks, rough notebooks, drawing books and thick cardboard.

The delegation also visited an area near the Kachin State Hluttaw Office in Man Khein Ward, where displaced families from San Kaar Village in Waingmaw Township, who fled recent terrorist violence, are temporarily resettled. These households were provided space through the state government’s resettlement programme.

The SAC member and the state chief minister distributed emergency supplies to 50 households, comprising 281 individuals. Relief items included 50 bags of rice from the National Disaster Management Committee, as well as 50 bottles of cooking oil, 50 water purifiers, 50 packets of instant noodles, 12 packets of ready-to-eat rice and 10 packets of preserved meat from the Kachin State Government. Camp officials also briefed them on further needs, and the SAC member coordinated with relevant departments to fulfil the requirements.

Finally, the delegation inspected the construction of temporary shelters in the same area for departmental staff from Chipway District. Officials were instructed to complete construction before the rainy season and systematically allocate housing for staff as quickly as possible.
