Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win made an inspection tour in townships of Ayeyawady Region yesterday. He viewed a thriving sunflower model farm in Wakema Township and inspected agricultural tasks.
At Kyaphyu
Village in Wakema Township, he looked into the growth of plants and pollination
at the 10-acre model plot of Super Sun 42 sunflowers and instructed officials
to prevent pests at the plantations.
The Chief
Minister also visited the Super Sun 41 model sunflower farm planted on 10-acre
croplands in Aukkaba Village of Pyapon Township and heard reports on dredging
of Kyishwinyoe drain and potential benefits for farmers in growing 200-acre
second crops and installation of the sluice gate at the drain. The Chief
Minister viewed the cultivation of sunflower plants on the embankment.
He also
inspected the construction of the Aungchantha sluice gate at the embankment for
Kyetphamwayzaung Island in Pyapon Township and the dredging of Tinhle Creek for
proper flow of water. According to reports from officials, Tinhle Creek can
irrigate some 4,000 acres of summer plantation in the township.
The Chief
Minister also viewed round dredging of the drain along the 11,000-foot-long
embankment of Kyetphamwayzaung Island to benefit 175 acres of arable land.
Moreover, he inspected the cultivation of summer paddy using a solar water pump
and the reclamation of 40-acre advanced farmlands.
