IN September 2024, Ngwetaung Beach in Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region, welcomed 17,566 domestic tourists, as visitors have been coming throughout the year to relax and unwind, according to Daw Ni Ni Mar, an executive member of the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (Ngwetaung Beach).
Ngwetaung Beach is also a popular destination for domestic tourists due to its proximity to Myat Mawtinsoon Pagoda, making it a year-round retreat. Many travellers from the Yangon Region and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area visit this beach.
“During January 2024, there were 35,455 domestic visitors; in February, the number was 36,555; in March, it was 38,955; in April, there were 48,955; in May, we had 54,555; in June, the number was 17,455; in July, we saw 15,455 visitors; and in August, there were 14,155 domestic tourists. Even during the rainy season, tourists are present and continually coming to relax at Ngwetaung Beach,” said Daw Ni Ni Mar
Efforts have been made at Ngwetaung Beach to ensure that visitors can relax in a safe and peaceful environment, with services such as bicycle rentals, motorboat rentals, and horse-drawn carriage rides. Moroever, local shops offer a variety of snacks and souvenir items at reasonable prices.
