Bago Region extends agriculture, livestock businesses

 



Local farmers are scaling up agricultural and livestock operations with support from the State economic promotion fund and technical assistance from relevant departments as part of efforts to produce agricultural and livestock products.

Local farmers have grown the long staple cotton plantations in Wuntinseik Village, Pyay Township, Bago Region. Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi on 1 November met with local cotton growers to discuss cultivation of cotton crops to meet the target cultivation and viewed thriving Raka 666 long staple cotton plantation.

After that, a discussion was held to review the operations of Khittaya Hintha Company Limited, which is currently renting and operating the Department of Agriculture’s jute processing factory. The Deputy Minister viewed round a showroom for tractors, and work process of the factory, urging company officials to emphasize the benefits for farmers.

On 2 November, the Deputy Minister met with breeders, dairy farmers, and dairy product producers at the office of the western Bago Region Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department. They discussed ways to promote livestock feed production systems and coordinated responses based on the presentations made by the breeders.

In meeting with officials from the agricultural sector in the western Bago Region, he stressed the implementation of projects funded by State economic promotion fund, including plans for growing summer and monsoon rice, oil crops, peanuts, sesame, and cotton crops in addition to selecting suitable regions for operating dairy cow breeding farms.

Additionally, he looked into the dairy cow breeding operations at Shwe Myint Mo Dairy Farm in Pyay and the milk collection activities of Ngwe Sin Pearl Company in Shwetaung Township.

He inspected the twelve varieties of rice cultivated by the Department of Agriculture and local farmers in Shwetaung Township. Subsequently, the Deputy Minister visited various private breeding operations, including poultry farms in Nathmaw Village in Paungde Township.

He also inspected breeding operations in Nattalin, Gyobingauk, Letpadan, and Thayawady townships.
