LOCAL visitors have made preparations for going on vacation in Bagan-NyaungU-Popa and Hpa-an during the Thadingyut holidays, which will start in October, and they have booked hotel rooms and bought tour packages, according to travel agencies.
“The arrival of visitors has been low due to the flood, but it doesn’t
mean there is a complete standstill. Thadingyut falls in the dry season and has
public holidays too, so there is a possibility of an increase in visitor
arrival in destinations which are fine to travel, especially in Bagan,” said a
Bagan resident.
At present, local visitor arrival to villages located on the highland at
the foot of Mount Popa has increased, and visitor arrival is expected to be
more prominent in the coming dry season, according to a Popa resident.
“In Thadingyut, my children will have school holidays, and I will have
holidays from my job, too. So, we have made preparations for going on a
pilgrimage tour in Bagan, and from there, we will visit Popa,” said a person
who had prepared for a vacation in Thadingyut.
Last year, visitor arrivals mounted in October, which is the dry season.
Bagan, NyaungU, Chaungtha and Ngwehsaung are famous destinations for domestic
travellers.
