It needs to conduct a systematic research on repairing the railways with resilience of natural disasters

 

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Council members General Mya Tun Oo and General Maung Maung Aye, union ministers and officials, yesterday morning inspected repairing of Samon Creek Bridge damaged in recent flooding on Thazi-Mandalay railway.

Along the route from Meiktila to Thazi, the Senior General viewed agricultural tasks and regional development measures. He then inspected thriving of crops and damaged sown acreage triggered by flash flood along both sides of Thazi-Mandalay railway.

The Senior General inspected repairing of Bridge No 691 on up and down railways and building of a 90-foot triple double bailey bridge.

General Mya Tun Oo and officials reported on damage and loss on Yangon-Mandalay railway section and Thazi-Shwenyaung-Taunggyi railway section in the erosion and efforts to reopen the railway sections.

In his response, the Senior General underlined that repairs must prioritize durability and quality of structures. He pointed out that it needs to conduct a systematic research on repairing the railways with resilience of natural disasters. He stressed the need to repair the railway sections and build new railway sections with retaining walls and straightening the creeks for ensuring proper drainage systems.

The Senior General inspected installation of a 90-foot triple double beiley bridge for Bridge No 691 (downstream) and presented foodstuffs to staff in the repairing works.

The Senior General and party drove along Thedaw-Wundwin-Meiktila route by car and viewed regional development and agricultural tasks.
