SINCE the morning of 8 October, the Yangon-Mandalay Highway has been flooded due to continuous heavy rains, and 29 temporary evacuation centres have been opened in Bago City.
Yesterday morning, 29 relief centres
were opened in 11 flood affected wards and six villages.
Officials and donors are providing
drinking water, foods and medicines to the flood victims at the camps.
Additionally, officials arrange safety of vehicles and people along the roads.
The Bago River reached 940 cm of
water level exceeding 880 cm danger level of Bago city. Currently, water is
flowing into low-lying areas of the township.
Furthermore, heavy rains caused
flooding in Kawsannaing Ward of Kyaikto Township of Mon State. As such,
searching and rescue teams of Ktaikto Township Fire Station, auxiliary fire
brigade members and relevant organizations evacuated flood victims to the safer
places.
