THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the proposed appointment of Mrs Florence Buerki Akonor as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with residence in Kuala Lumpur.
Mrs Florence Buerki Akonor was born in 1969. She obtained Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in 1994 and Master of Arts in International Affairs from University of Ghana, Legon in 1998. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana in 1997 and served in various positions till 2000. Then, she served as Head of Chancery at Ghana High Commission in New Delhi from 2000 to 2004. She served as Assistant Director from 2004 to 2007 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. From 2007 to 2011, she was assigned as Minister-Counsellor at Ghana Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She served as Deputy Director from 2011 to 2013 and as Director from 2013 to 2014 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. From 2014 to 2017, she was assigned as Minister at Ghana High Commission in Ottawa, Canada. From 2017 to 2018, she was assigned as Minister at Ghana High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa. She served as Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration from 2018 to 2020. From 2020 to September 2022, she served as Minister/Deputy Permanent Representative to UNESCO at the Ghana Embassy in Paris, France. Since October 2022, she has been serving as Ghana High Commissioner to Malaysia.
