THE low-pressure area over the southeastern Bay of Bengal and adjoining the south Andaman Sea persists. It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm and is likely to move towards Myanmar. Therefore, the rehearsal exercises for emergency management, response, recuse, cooperation, readiness and rehabilitation processes are being conducted in respective regions and states.
On 10 and 11 May, the Tatmadaw members, members of militia units, Myanmar Police Force, Fire Brigade, Myanmar Red Cross Society, social welfare teams and residents made rehearsals at No 1 BEHS in Myitkyina Township of Kachin State, Thayagon monastery in Paung Township of Mon State, local military unit in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region, local battalions of Pathein Township of Ayeyawady Region.
The chief ministers of regions and states and commanders of respective commands inspected them and provided relief items and materials.
Moreover, officials make preparations like recuse teams prepared in advance, storing the relief items and materials, cyclone shelter construction and storage of five types of rations and drinking water.
Moreover, the coordination meeting of the Ayeyawady Region Disaster Management Committee was held on 10 May at the meeting hall of SouthWest Command HQ. Commander Brig-Gen Kyi Khine attended the meeting and made proper instructions.
