Illegal teak, foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial materials and vehicles seized

THE on-duty Customs team under the Customs Department made inspections on 29 March and captured 116 sets of dressing tables worth K8.12 million that were not mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and three kinds of goods (including three sets of compressor air filters) worth K2,195,182 that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Ywathagyi Dry Port. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

Similarly, a combined team under the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force at the Letpanhla-Singu temporary checkpoint confiscated two kinds of goods (including 3,000 baby backpacks) worth K14.55 million without official documents from a Nissan Diesel car (approximate value of K30 million) heading to Mandalay from Myitkyina. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

In addition, the Muse District Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted a surprise check on a Dongfeng truck (approximate value of K20 million) that was parked on Pyidaungsu Highway in Muse township and seized 85 kinds of goods (including two travelling suitcases) worth K55,071,960 without official documents and various kinds of foodstuffs (made in China) without FDA approval. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

An unregistered Toyota Mark II car (approximate value of K3.5 million) was captured near the junction of Waizayanta and Laydauntkan roads in Thingangyun township.

A total of 6.3070 tonnes of illegal teak worth K4,162,620 was seized in the Pyukun protected public forest in Pyu township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.

Therefore, nine arrests (estimated value of K164,435,762) were made on 29 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
