THE meeting on the projects to be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Electric Power and Rusatom International Network-Rosatom of the Russian Federation was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
First, Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han said
that it was the second meeting on the bilateral cooperation in wind power and
small hydropower projects and the Russian-Myanmar Coordinating Group also had
rounds of discussions.
He added that he visited the Barsuchkovskaya small
hydropower plant and the Kochubeevskaya wind power plant in Moscow and Sochi,
Russia, in November 2022 and that the project proposals of Popa Region (200
MW), Minhla Region (116 MW) and Mindon Region (56 MW) will be submitted to the
office of the State Administration Council so that feasibility study can be
made and MoU signed.
The Union minister went on to say that small hydropower
projects can be carried out in the PutaO region either between Rosatom and MoEP
or between Rosatom and Myanmar’s private investors to meet the power
requirements of Myanmar people as soon as possible.
President of the Rusatom International Network Mr VadimTitov
from the Russian Federation responded that the work programmes on thermal power
projects will be implemented in June and 20-Megawatt hydropower projects
reviewed and presented in April.
Afterwards, the Union minister and the Russian delegation
discussed in detail the bilateral cooperation matters on wind power and small
hydropower projects.
