MYANMAR Fisheries Federation established in December 1998 will celebrate its Silver Jubilee in December 2023.
The silver jubilee event will feature a cooking show cooperating with the Myanmar Chef Association, booths of marine products, white shrimp, fish, freshwater/saltwater educating programmes, fun fairs and entertaining programmes.
The federation earned over US$800 million from marine exports in 2022. It will elect the new central executive committee members at the ceremony of the silver jubilee in the coming December.
"The federation turns 25 years in December. We are very sad as some experts who worked together with us passed away during the outbreak of COVID-19. Despite the difficulties, the federation is striving against the challenges. A project representing the federation is being implemented in Pantanaw Township. When it is fully operational, it will support the country's GDP. Currently, all are making efforts to mark the silver jubilee of the federation," said Dr Toe Nandar Tin, senior vice-president of the Federation.
A river catfish farming zone is being established by the Global Earth Agro & Aqua Industry Public Co Ltd in Pantanaw Township to revive the marine product businesses in Southeast Asia and it is expected to launch the operation in 2024.
The Myanmar Fisheries Federation organizes its units across the nation except for Chin State. Currently, there are 10 working associations and over 60 district and township organizations with a total of 4,300 members.
