AN
opening ceremony of capacity building course on Parliamentary Diplomacy and
International Relations for Hluttaw representatives and Hluttaw Office
Personnel was held at Learning Center, Zabuthiri Hluttaw Building, Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday afternoon.
At
the ceremony, Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker and Joint Coordination Committee on
Hluttaw Development (JCC) Chairman U Tun Tun Hein said the course is conducted
to develop the capacity and expertise of Hluttaw representatives and Hluttaw
Office personnel in attending regional and international meetings on
parliaments and in dealing with local and international organisations and
non-government organisations (NGOs). The aim is for Hluttaw representatives to
understand the country’s stands, policies and diplomatic protocols and have
qualified Hluttaw Office personnel who can support their works.
At
the course Hluttaw representatives and experts from committees and commissions
who had experience in international meetings, experts from Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and international relation experts from partner organisations will give
lectures on sector wise subjects covering international relations history,
basic of bilateral relation, relationship between domestic politics and
international politics, particulars of international organisations like AIPA
and IPU, facts about ASEAN, international conventions and covenant. The course
is attended by 66 trainees who are Hluttaw representatives and Hluttaw Office
personnel.
