State
Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who was in the Federal Democratic Republic of
Nepal met separately with the President, Prime Minister and Congress Party
Chairman of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal yesterday.
The
State Counsellor met with the President of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari in the Presidential Palace in Kathmandu at local
standard time 10:30 a.m.
During
the meeting matters relating to increasing and strengthening bilateral
relations, establishing more contact between the people of the two countries,
increasing pilgrimage tours, trade and investment were discussed and views
exchanged.
Present
at the meeting were Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government U Min
Thu, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, Deputy Minister
for Commerce U Aung Htoo, Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal Thiri Pyanchi U Tun Nay
Lin and officials.
After
the meeting, the State Counsellor signed in the guest book of the Federal
Democratic Republic of Nepal Presidential Palace.
Next,
State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met privately with the Prime Minister of
Nepal Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli at the Kathmandu Hotel Annapurna at 11:30 a.m.
Afterwards,
the State Counsellor and the Prime Minister of Nepal attended the Myanmar-Nepal
bilateral meeting held at Hotel Annapurna.
At
the meeting, exchange of friendly visits between the leaders of the two
countries, democracy and peace work processes, increasing bilateral trade and
investment, bilateral relations and cooperation in all sectors were cordially
discussed and views exchanged.
In
addition to this the State Counsellor invited Nepal Prime Minister to visit
Myanmar at a mutually convenient time.
The
State Counsellor was accompanied by Union Ministers U Min Thu and U Kyaw Tin,
Deputy Minister U Aung Htoo, Myanmar Ambassador to Nepal and officials at the
bilateral meeting.
Following
this State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Nepal Prime Minister Mr. K. P.
Sharma Oli attended the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between
the two countries held at the hotel. At the ceremony Myanmar-Nepal memorandum
of understanding on cooperation in trade and investment was signed and
exchanged by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin and Nepal
Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali in the presence of the
State Counsellor and the Nepal Prime Minister.
In
the afternoon, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and party attended a
luncheon hosted by Nepal Prime Minister at Hotel Annapurna.
Later
in the day at 5 p.m. local standard time, former Nepal Prime Minister and Congress
Party Chairman Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba came to meet with State Counsellor Daw
Aung San Suu Kyi at Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel.
In
the evening, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and party attended a dinner
hosted in Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel Ballroom for heads of states and heads of
governments attending the Asia-Pacific Summit 2018.
