The writing and releasing of news is the main job of the Ministry of
Information, and to speed up and make the delivery of news more
systematic, courses on news releasing were conducted for the staff of
the Information and Public Relations Department. Accordingly, an opening
ceremony was held yesterday morning at the Dekkhina Training School,
Information and Public Relations Department (Head Office) in Nay Pyi Taw.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister for Information U
Aung Hla Tun said that it is important to release news that the public
needs in a timely manner. The Information and Public Relations
Department (IPRD) has offices in states, regions, districts, townships
and towns throughout the country, and is in a position to play an
important role in collecting news.
In the digital age, in which technologies are rapidly developing and changing, the staff must have the ability to change the way they do their work.
The staff can not only become proficient in working with technologies, but must also follow the ethics, rules and procedures, as prescribed in the News Media Law, which is why these training courses are offered regularly, said the Deputy Minister.
The course was attended by 35 staff members from states and regions who were photography technicians grade 2. They will be taught about the News Media Law, the ethics of journalism, flow of news, searching for news sources, basic news writing, feature writing, the importance of media in an emergency, the views of readers, the press conference sector, publishing of news online and news photography subjects will be taught by outside experts in both discussions, lectures and practical work.
After the ceremony, the Deputy Minister inspected the library, a mini-museum and exhibition, a children’s reading room and other works conducted at the Dekkhina District IPRD Office.
The Deputy Minister remarked that the district based centers should contact and coordinate with civil services organisations (CSOs), youths and students, so that they make use of the centers. He also said that youths should be encouraged to use the volleyball and Sepak Takraw courts at the office.
