Pyithu
Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Tun Tun Hein received People’s Republic of China (PRC)
National People’s Congress (NPC) Ethnic Affairs Committee Vice Chairman Mr.
Tondrub Wangben and party at Hluttaw building in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The
meeting was attended by Pyithu Hluttaw Ethnic Affairs and Internal Peace
Implementation Committee Chairman U Khun Maung Thaung, Secretary U Inn Hton
Khar Naw Sam and officials from Pyithu Hluttaw Office.
At
the meeting, Deputy Speaker U Tun Tun Hein first said that China-Myanmar
paukphaw relation will be raised to that of all round strategic partner
relationship. China’s help and assistance to Myanmar on internal peace and
ethnic national unity works are much appreciated as internal peace and unity is
very important for a country’s development. The Government and Hluttaw had
enacted laws to protect the rights of the ethnic nationals and an ethnic affairs
ministry was established to implement and maintain equality, culture and
traditions of ethnic nationals. Similarly, if China support and assist
Myanmar’s works for internal peace, national reconciliation and establishment
of a federal democracy system, the works of internal peace and unity of ethnic
nationals sector will be quick and effective, said the deputy Speaker.
In
return PRC NPC Ethnic Affairs Committee Vice Chairman said China and Myanmar
are quite similar in political history because both had many ethnic nationals
living together. Stability and unity is crucial for a country’s development and
thus China had placed much emphasis on ethnic national rights, equality and
cultural traditions. As Myanmar is striving for the rights of ethnic nationals
and unity to achieve peace, China will share its experience and provide
assistance said the Vice Chairman.
