A
Total of 28,800 anti-bacterial water purifying bags were donated to flood
victims in Thaton Township, Mon State, by the 1994-1995 batch of graduate
students from the Yangon University of Economics, at the Township Flood Rescue
Administration office yesterday.
The
donated bags of water purification tablets were accepted by Chairman of the
Township Flood Rescue Administration office U Thein Win, after which he
expressed his words of thanks to the donors.
Due
to continuous heavy rains, a total of about a thousand lakes and wells, 2,000
toilets in the Thaton Township area were affected by flash floods. As a result,
local people are in dire need of purified drinking water. Hluttaw
representatives, officials and township elders are providing purified drinking
water, but there is still much to be fulfilled.
