Water purification tablets donated to flood victims in Thaton Township




A Total of 28,800 anti-bacterial water purifying bags were donated to flood victims in Thaton Township, Mon State, by the 1994-1995 batch of graduate students from the Yangon University of Economics, at the Township Flood Rescue Administration office yesterday.


The donated bags of water purification tablets were accepted by Chairman of the Township Flood Rescue Administration office U Thein Win, after which he expressed his words of thanks to the donors.

Due to continuous heavy rains, a total of about a thousand lakes and wells, 2,000 toilets in the Thaton Township area were affected by flash floods. As a result, local people are in dire need of purified drinking water. Hluttaw representatives, officials and township elders are providing purified drinking water, but there is still much to be fulfilled.
