Negotiations to open private universities in Myanmar

Talks are ongoing about the possibility of private universities being opened in Myanmar, it has been learnt.


“We are negotiating with the government to open private schools and universities to promote the local educational sector,” from an official of Myanmar Investment Commission.

Instructions and qualifications necessary to gain permission to open such a university will be forthcoming if the plan is approved.

Local and foreign businessmen who want to open schools and universities shall submit application forms to Myanmar Investment Commission, officials said.

Private universities will allow local youths pursue higher education at a diverse number of institutions in their own country, it is learnt from Myanmar Investment Commission.
