The first school constructed with the Japanese grant was completed and
handed over to Magway Region Government yesterday.
Mr.
Hideaki Matsuo, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan, Dr. Khin Maung Aye,
Minister of Social Affairs of Magway Regional Government, U Zaw Win, Deputy
Director- General, Department of Basic Education, Ministry of Education,
committee members of the construction project, and local residents attended the
ceremony.
The
flood that occurred in July 2015 caused serious damages to the school
buildings, which were in dangerous condition for the students to study. To
address these challenges, the Japanese Government provided funding for the
construction of a 30’ x 24’ one-story R.C.C building with full furniture and a
toilet. The project will benefit approximately 200students of the school and
promote disaster prevention in the area.
Government
of Japan has been reconstructing and repairing 493 schools affected by Cyclone
Komen in 2015. Japan provided 1.2billion yen to the Myanmar’s Ministry of
Education to support a part of such efforts.
