TO date, five downtown wards of Laymyethna Township, 124 inner-city roads and surrounding villages, 37 villages of Hinthada Township, four wards of Yekyi Township and 27 surrounding villages, two downtown wards of Ngathainggyoung Township, two downtown wards of Kyonpyaw Township and nine surrounding villages, two downtown wards of Kyaunggon and two villages, a total of 15 downtown wards and 199 villages have been flooded due to heavy rain and river erosion, the Ngawun River overflowed the riverbed and overflowed on the evening of 30 July 2026.
Therefore, the Tatmadaw personnel from South-West Command, Myanmar Police Force, Fire Services Department, social relief groups, charitable organizations, and local ethnic groups have jointly opened flood relief camps with providing search and rescue services to flood victims, delivered food, provided health care, and installed geobags, sandbags, and steel sheet piles to protect the floodwaters entering.
The Tatmadaw officials from the South-West Command are visiting these activities and coordinating as needed.
