Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win and Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko visited flood relief centres across Magway and Minbu to provide cash assistance and relief supplies to displaced residents.
At the
Alekyaung Dhammayon’s relief camp in Magway’s Myinkin Village, aid was
distributed to 525 flood victims across 127 households. In Minbu Township,
officials met 1,982 displaced residents from 489 households across two shelters
at Hmankin Monastery and Shinpin Kyaunglain Pagoda.
Across all
locations, authorities provided rice funds, canned fish, instant noodles, eggs,
purified drinking water, and targeted cash assistance of K30,000 per person for
pregnant mothers, children under five, elderly residents aged 70 and older, and
individuals with disabilities. Officials also advised returning families on
environmental sanitation, clean drinking water, venomous snake hazards, and
youth education once floodwaters recede.
The
yesterday’s aid distributions totalled over K31.6 million. Across nine
flood-hit states and regions throughout July and August 2026, the ministry and
local governments have disbursed more than K2.9 billion in total humanitarian
support.
