The Kayah State government is actively working to expedite the reopening of universities, colleges, institutes, and training schools within the state. The University of Computer Studies, Technological University, and Loikaw Education Degree College are set to reopen in the third week of November. On the morning of 16 November, Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin and officials inspected preparations at the Computer University and Loikaw Education Degree College.
They first visited Loikaw Education Degree
College to inspect preparations in the main hall, lecture rooms, dormitories,
and dining halls, ensuring readiness for the upcoming reopening. Principal Daw
Cherry Tun briefed the chief minister on student attendance and seating
arrangements, with adjustments made as necessary.
The inspection continued at Loikaw
University of Computer Studies, where officials assessed campus sanitation,
school maintenance, and lecture hall preparations. Dr Khine Zaw Naing,
Principal of Technological University (Loikaw), and Dr Thin Thin Htwe, Principal
of Loikaw University of Computer Studies, explained arrangements for incoming
students, lecture halls availability, and dormitory conditions. The chief
minister encouraged responsible officials to ensure smooth, organized classes
and to prepare the school sports fields for events.
Further inspections included the hall of
the No 2 Basic Education High School and classrooms, and the chief minister
instructed officials to repair damaged facilities, pave access paths with
concrete, and uphold proper campus maintenance. Afterwards, he visited the
Naungya A quarter’s staff housing, inspecting boundary wall construction and
housing renovation. He called for timely completion and adherence to standards
for the benefit of residents.
