On the 1st Waning of Tazaungmone, people from across Myanmar flocked to pay respects to the revered Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw’s Dekkhinathiri Township, the world’s tallest seated stone Buddha statue. The surrounding Buddha Park, decorated with LED lights, also attracted many visitors, who marvelled at the impressive architecture and numerous stupas and shrines within the park.
Pilgrims visited prominent sites in the area, including the Kyauksayon Stupa, Mucilina Lake, Nagayon Pagoda, Gandakuti Chamber, Suddhamma Public rest houses, Maravijaya Monastery, and the Aggadhipati Religious Hall. Groups of visitors took photos at the park’s large and small water fountains, adding to the festive atmosphere.
To support local economies, MSME vendors
offered regional food and consumer goods, including traditional Myanmar snacks,
at affordable prices. Pilgrims enthusiastically bought these items, and many
stalls sold out due to the high demand.
Similarly, in Tatkon Township of Nay Pyi
Taw, the Tazaungdine Festival and MSME Market Fair featured traditional Myanmar
festivities, including an ox-cart beauty contest, where prizes were awarded.
Crowds gathered at the Tatkon Sports Ground to enjoy the activities.
In Bago Region, the government organized
the Tazaungdine Lights Festival, with hot-air balloon launches and an MSME
Market Fair on the evening of 15 November. Held on the Shwemawdaw Pagoda Road
in Bago, the event drew a large crowd who enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
In Yangon, the regional government hosted
the 2024 Tazaungdine Market Festival and Music Festival on Tazaungmone Full
Moon night, with many visitors gathering to enjoy the celebrations. Famous
singers performed at the music festival, and traditional ethnic dance troupes
entertained the crowd. The evening concluded with vibrant fireworks and hot-air
balloon launches, bringing the festivities to an exciting close.
