A delegation led by Mr Alexey Sambuevich Tsydenov, Head of Russia’s Buryatia Republic, visited Bagan from Nay Pyi Taw by flight yesterday morning.
On arrival at NyaungU airport in Mandalay,
the delegation was welcomed by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and
Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan, Mandalay Region cabinet members and students.
During the visit, the delegation visited
Shwezigon, Htilominlo, and Arnanda temples offered flowers, water, and oil
lamps, and made cash donations.
They proceeded to the Bagan Archaeological Museum, where Deputy Minister Daw Nu
Mra Zan and the museum curator clarified the galleries.
At noon, Magway Region Chief Minister U
Tint Lwin hosted lunch for the Russian delegation and Mr Iskander Azizov,
Russian Ambassador to Myanmar, at Aureum Palace Hotel and explained the
production processes of Poneyaygyi (horse gram paste) in the hotel compound and
gave Poneyaygyi packs as presents.
Afterwards, they headed to U Ba Nyein
lacquerware shop, observed the lacquerware production processes, and exchanged
gifts.
The Buryatia Republic delegation left
Myanmar for Russia from Mandalay International Airport in the evening. They
were seen off at the airport by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, the
Russian ambassador and regional cabinet members.
