1. According to sections 40 (e) and 62 of The Central Bank of Myanmar Law, the Central Bank of Myanmar is the sole issuer of and managing the domestic currency.
2. Recently,
there have been numerous instances of the use of digital currency such
as Cryptocurrency: Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETH) and
Perfect Money (PM) on personal Facebook accounts and webpages as payment
for individual use or services.
3. The Central Bank of Myanmar does not recognize digital currency, including cryptocurrency, as legal tender nor has it given permission to financial institutions to buy/sell or exchange them.
4. This being the case, the Central Bank of Myanmar notifies the public that buying/selling or exchange of digital currency, including cryptocurrency, whether online or in person, can lead to loss on the consumer’s side.
