A pre-coordination meeting for the 18th Myanmar
Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference was held at the Myanmar
International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The conference was attended by Director-General of
the Department of Traditional Medicine Dr. Ye Ye Myint, officials from Myanmar
Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Association (Central), officials from
Myanmar Traditional Medicine Council, representatives of the Myanmar
traditional practitioner conference and other responsible departmental
officials.
During the meeting, Dr. Ye Ye Myint acted as the
chairman, while U Thaung Naing from Myanmar Traditional Association (Yangon)
and U Sai Soe Thet Naing and U Hla Myint from Myanmar Traditional Association
(Shan State) acted as members. Dr. Ye Ye Myint delivered the opening speech,
following which representative groups from the states and regions discussed
their proposals and chose two proposal makers and two proposal approvers for
each proposal. The chairman of the conference then selected a proposal maker
and a proposal from the earlier selections made by the groups of
representatives.
In the afternoon, procedures for each proposal were
discussed by the group, and these procedures were explained by the
representatives who had selected them.
The 18th Traditional Medicine Practitioners’
Conference is being held to ensure the all-round development of Myanmar’s
traditional medicine practitioners community and to improve the quality of
Myanmar’s traditional medicine, raise the ethics and dignity of traditional
medicine practitioners, provide more public health protection through
traditional medicine, and develop and improve Myanmar’s traditional medicine
offerings. The five proposals for the development of Myanmar’s traditional
medicine will also be presented during today’s meeting.
