The
second day of the paper reading on anti-corruption was held at the Park Royal
Hotel in Yangon yesterday morning.
The
paper reading on anti-corruption was jointly organised by the Anti-Corruption
Commission and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, with the title
“Promote Integrity to Counter Corruption.”
During
the session, U Aye Lwin and U Nyunt Wai read papers on “Fighting against
Corruption and Uplifting Morality.”
U
Zeya Thu read a paper on “The Role of Media in Promoting Integrity and
Combating Corruption.”
Dr.
Khine Khine Win read a paper on “To Combat Corruption is to Promote Human
Rights.”
U
Thwin Lin Aung read a paper titled, “Approaching Anti-Corruption from the Point
of View of Integrity.”
U
Myint Thwin read a paper on Anti Corruption Training, Daw Phyu Phyu Zin read a
paper on “Lifting the Prestige of Economy for Anti-Corruption,” while U Zaw Two
read a paper on “Regional Development and Accountability.”
U
Aung Soe read a paper on “Reduction in Corruption in Jail,” and U Win Myint
Than read a paper on “Overtaking Singapore.”
In
the afternoon session, the moderators conducted reviews of some 26 papers.
Chairman
of the Anti-Corruption Commission U Aung Kyi expressed his thanks to all the
participants, including scholars, non-governmental organisations and
international non-governmental organisations at the paper reading session.
Following
the paper reading, a press release was issued. U Aung Kyi clarified matters
related to the ongoing processes, future tasks and procedures of the
commission.
Later,
U Han Nyunt, a member of the Anti-Corruption Commission, read out the
announcement (1/2018).
Further,
U Aung Kyi replied to questions raised by the media about the bill for an
anti-corruption law, the number of complaint letters received in two months,
the budget allocation of the commission and other related issues.
The
paper reading session is aimed at widening the outlook and knowledge of the
people and accelerating the processes and objectives of the commission,
uplifting morality and adopting preventive measures with systematic approaches.
Moreover, the 2018 workplan is being carried out to eliminate this malpractice
once and for all.
