An
opening ceremony for vocational training organised by the Department for Rural
Development was held in Maungtaw and Buthidaung regions yesterday.
The
programme aims to increase living standards and socio-economic status for local
residents in the Maungtaw and Buthidaung regions.
“More
vocational training courses will be opened very soon in order to create job
opportunities for the local youths in these regions”, said U Tun Hlaing, head
of district Department of Rural Development.
“As
for our Department of Rural Development, we are conducting many vocational
training courses such as motorbike repairing, tailoring, food processing and
cooking so that the locals can earn extra money as much as they can. But all
the training classes rely on the budgets of the state”, he added.
The
Department of Rural Development was formed in 2013, and aims to alleviate
poverty and create job opportunities for the locals. It has also laid down
eight steps to implement this process effectively.
According
to interviews with local people, this project has helped the development of
social and living standards in a number of ways.
Under
this project, many supervisory committees were formed to provide and supervise
assistance to local people in this region. The training will last 20 days and
there are currently 20 trainees taking courses, it was learnt.
