A
donation ceremony organised by the Sitagu Sayadaw, was held in Maungtaw
yesterday. The venerable Sitagu Sayadaw is well-known for his teachings and for
his philanthropic work in Myanmar.
The
Myanmar News Agency interviewed officials who joined in the philanthropic
effort.
Sayadaw
U Pandissa
Venerable
Sitagu Sayadaw called us to help the locals in Rakhine State, and accordingly
we accumulated cash donations and clothing from my donors who are from South
Korea. We received two containers full of clothes suitable for the young and
adults. The cash donations come to US$30,000 (Ks40.88 million), so it is useful
for people who are in need. All these donations will be distributed to the
locals who are in need of help. As for me, I pray for them not to meet these
kinds of misfortunes again. May they be healthy, wealthy and free from any
kinds of dangers.
U
Kyaw Moe Naing, Secretary of Sitagu Buddhist Missionary
Under
the supervision of the Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw, we have come here to donate
three ambulances in Yathedaung, Maungtaw and Buthidaung regions. Moreover, we
also bring two containers full of clothes for the needy. The donor is Sayadaw U
Pandissa, who is from South Korea. We are going to donate 100 million kyat for
each region, to promote education, health care and other sectors. As far as I
know, Sitagu Sayadaw has enormously contributed aid to Rakhine State whenever
catastrophes break out. We try our best to maintain peace and stability under
the shade of Sasana (the Buddha’s teachings). He makes concerted efforts to
develop Sittway, Buthidaung, Maungtaw, Yathedaung, Kyauktaw and Myauk U
townships.
U
Myint Aung, Secretary of Sitagu Buddhist Missionary
Venerable
Sitagu Sayadaw aims at peaceful co-existence among all nationals regardless of
race, colour and religion. He does his utmost to fulfill the needs of the
people. Under his guidance, we have already opened 33 eye hospitals and five
Buddhist universities across the country. In addition to these hospitals and
universities, we are carrying out the propagation of Buddhism in the US,
Germany and Russia.
