To
ensure the release of timely information on the implementation of UEHRD
activity in Rakhine State, a media team led by Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint,
accompanied by Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, yesterday inspected the paddy being
reaped with the use of machine harvesters from the Mechanized Agriculture
Department along Maungtaw-Angumaw Road in Myin Lut sub-township.
The
construction of houses in Kyauk Pandu Village and the building of the Mayyu
Mountain Road Overpass was also observed by the ministers yesterday morning.
The
Union Minister and Chief Minister arrived at Kyauk Pandu Village, where an
official explained that in 1993, the Ministry of Border Affairs built 70 houses
for local nationals, with 100 more houses currently being built with the budget
allotment for the development of the border area amounting to Ks650 million in
FY 2016-2017. Now preparation work has been completed, the official said.
Twenty-three units have already been roofed and walled, with the necessary
construction materials to build the remaining homes already acquired. In
addition to the residences, five ponds each capable of holding 1,200 gallons, a
rural dispensary, a playground, a marketplace, a police outpost and a mini-grid
solar system plant are included in the scheme.
The
Union Minister and Chief Minister then inspected the May Yu Mountain Road
Overpass project that is being accomplished with the use of heavy machinery by
Road Special Team 17 of the Road Department.
Out
of four May Yu Mountain Road overpasses being built by the Road Department, the
8-mile long Kyein Chaung-Guppi Overpass and the 14-mile long Kyauk
Pandu-Inndin-Ceti Pyin Overpass will be built with emergency funds in March
2018 as gravel roads, with Thet Paing Nyar-Padagar Road and U Daung-Nyaung
Chaung Road to be built in the coming fiscal year.
The
ministers also inspected the Koe Tan Kauk police outpost in Rathedaung
township, which was one of the outposts attacked by Islamic extremist
terrorists on 9th October 2016. The ministers then left for Sittwe via Angumaw
by speedboat.
In
the afternoon, Union Minister and Chief Minister arrived in Sittwe to inspect
the MRTV transmitting station, NPE’sSub-printing House (Sittway), Office of
IPRD in Rakhine State.
The
Union Minister and media team left Sittwe by air, arriving in Yangon in
yesterday evening.
