Late goals by Cambodia lead to Myanmar defeat

 October 26, 2017
In a qualifier of 2018 AFC U19 Championship, Myanmar lost to host Cambodia 2-3 due to last-minute goals from Cambodian strikers at the national Olympic Stadium in Cambodia yesterday.

Myanmar lined up with keeper Htet Wai Yan Moe, Than Htike Zin, Captain Soe Moe Kyaw, Si Thu Moe Khant, Lwin Moe Aung, Win Naing Tun, Myat Kaung Khant, Hein Htet Aung, Pyae Sone Naing, Naing Ko Ko and Aung Wunna Soe.
Myanmar dominated the first half and scored the opener in the 33rd minute when forward Hein Htet Aung scored off a goalmouth scramble.
Myanmar’s Lwin Moe Aung scored in the 35th minute to claim his second goal
of the qualifiers.
The Cambodians were much better in the second half, reducing the deficit in the 59th minute courtesy of forward Sin Kakada, who floated in a free kick from just outside the box to leave keeper Htet Wai Yan Soe with no chance at making a save.
Cambodia star Kakada then repeated his feat in the 90th minute, scoring his second goal of the match.
With three minutes of time added, striker San Kimheng tapped in a close-range shot for the winning goal for Cambodia, with the match ending soon after the goal.
The loss caused much consternation for the Myanmar crowd, upset for their team to have lost after dominating the first half with solid ball possession.
