Union Minister pledges support for victims of battles in Shan State and other northern residents

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye visited Shan State to provide assistance to residents of the northern territory, where armed conflict between armed ethnic and government forces have caused displacement and other societal challenges.


Dr. Win Myat Aye pledged Ks3 million to purchase a vehicle for humanitarian relief work, Ks2.4 million for traditional cultural organisations and Ks50,000 each for hospitalized victims of recent violence in the area.

The Union Minister also promised the government would provide continued socioeconomic development to enable the state to become more resilient to natural and manmade disasters and to promote democratic standards.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister and his entourage visited the Sin Shwe Li Home for the elderly, donated clothes and money and spoke with elderly residents. The Union Minister also visited the Youth Training School of Social Welfare Department in Lashio and greeted young trainees.
