After
a tip-off to police, members of the Anti-Drugs Squad Unit 1 simultaneously
raided four houses in Mongnaung village, Hopim, Mohnyin Township on Monday,
discovering heroin, opium and thousands of yaba tablets.
Police
seized 25 grams of heroin from the house owned by Myint Wai and his wife Ma
Khin Shwe in Botesu Ward, found one gram of heroin and 23 yaba tablets from Ma
Daw Kun’s house in Mya Nanda Ward, 2,000 yaba tablets and two grams of raw
opium from the house of Win Myint and wife Ma Yin Yin Aye and two grams of
heroin from the house of Paw Myar in Sinphyugon Ward.
On
the same day, members of Anti-Drug Squad Unit 25 based in Taunggyi searched a
Subaru driven by Myo Min Thein, accompanied by Ye Kyaw Oo, at a check-point
four miles away from Taunggyi. The team confiscated 375 yaba tablets and a
plastic bag containing one gram of heroin.
Police
have filed charges against them under the Anti Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law, it is learnt.
