State
Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo
on Thursday. The two sides discussed recent incidents in Rakhine State.
The
Japanese Foreign Minister said Myanmar is an important partner as it shares the
values of democracy, basic human rights and rule of law. He added that both
Japanese government and private entities are willing to support Myanmar. Japan
had pledged to provide aid worth 800 billion yen or 7.73 billion US dollars to
Myanmar over five years to support its peace-building and development efforts,
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said during the press conference with State
