THE Government has prioritized efforts to combat online fraud and online gambling as a national duty, and demolished the illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko area.
During ongoing
demolition operations until yesterday, one five-storey building designated for
demolition using heavy machinery underwent further dismantling. It was 60 per
cent demolished.
Demolition work on the
remaining 63 structures in Phase II of operations in the Shwe Kokko area
resumed systematically, following the classification of the buildings according
to the demolition methods to be used: 25 structures are to be demolished using
heavy machinery, four using controlled explosives, and 34 located adjacent to
residential homes are to be dismantled floor by floor through manual labour.
Four buildings designated for demolition by explosives and two buildings
designated for demolition using machinery have already been demolished. The
remaining 57 buildings will also continue to be systematically demolished.
The government is
placing particular emphasis on cracking down on online fraud and online
gambling operations, commonly referred to as online scams, which threaten
global socioeconomic development and national security. It is working with
neighbouring and regional countries to eliminate these activities.
