Farmer awareness seminar on cotton production held in Yenangyoung

 

A farmer awareness seminar was held at the office of Town­ship Agriculture Department in Yenangyoung Township, Magway Region, yesterday, with the aim of developing cotton cultivation and production, increasing yields and improving farmers’ agricultural knowledge and techniques.

At the seminar, Township Ag­riculture Department Head U Yin Min Soe and staff explained agri­cultural practices to be followed to improve cotton production, the selection and cultivation of quality cotton varieties, and methods for preventing and controlling pests and diseases. The Township Agri­culture Department also provided compound fertilizer and natural pesticides to seed-producing farmers from three village tracts engaged in cotton cultivation.

The participating cotton farmers then raised questions and discussed agricultural dif­ficulties they had encountered and pest and disease outbreaks. It was reported that Agriculture Department staff and farmers would work together to further improve cotton cultivation and production in the township.
