KACHIN State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan conducted a field inspection tour in northern Myanmar’s PutaO District yesterday to support local food security, regional development, and agriculture.
In PutaO’s
Panhlaing Ward, the Chief Minister visited a commercial fish farm operating
across more than three acres. Supported by K60 million from the State Economic
Promotion Fund, the project features nine ponds raising over 2,000 fish across
several species. He coordinated plans with fishery officials to expand pond
capacity and encourage more local entrepreneurs to take up commercial aquaculture.
He then inspected the Shwe Taung noodle industry, which used fund loans to
upgrade machinery for instant rice noodle production, and coordinated with
department officials to facilitate market access.
Later in the
afternoon, the Chief Minister met with local farmers and department officials
near Sangaung Village to address flood and erosion damage caused by the Pateik
stream. To safeguard more than 900 acres of rain-fed paddy fields and the
PutaO-Upper Sangaung roadway, they coordinated plans to repair the Sangaung
and Nankanto diversion weirs using local traditional methods and reviewed the
Department of Highways’ plan to construct a 580-foot retaining wall.
Concluding the tour, he inspected cold-water fish breeding, conservation, and
research activities at the PutaO Livestock Research Camp.
