MYANMAR’S national Teqball team was warmly welcomed back to Yangon yesterday after winning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the 20th Asian Games, held from 17 to 20 September at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Centre in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Khin Hnin Wai won gold in the women’s
singles event, while Su Mon Aung and Phyu Phyu Than won silver in the women’s
doubles. Saw Friday secured bronze in the men’s singles.
The team, comprising two coaches and
four athletes, was welcomed at Yangon International Airport by Yangon Region
Social Affairs Minister U Bo Htay, officials, students, representatives of the
Myanmar Teqball Federation, and the athletes’ families and friends.
The team was also presented with a
total of K180 million in cash awards-K60 million each from the government, the
Myanmar Football Federation and the Myanmar Teqball Federation-in recognition
of their achievements.
