As the Hluttaw is a bridge connecting the government and the people, the State, the Hluttaw and the people must strive for the development of the nation, said Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn at the meeting with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Mon State Hluttaw, and lawmakers from Pyithu, Amyotha and State Hluttaws.
At
the meeting held at the Mon State Hluttaw office yesterday morning, the Pyithu
Hluttaw Deputy Speaker underlined that Hluttaw representatives have to fulfil
the needs of the people from relevant constituencies by raising questions and
submitting proposals, urging them to participate in the enactment, amendment,
supplementation, and drafting anew of laws that are in line with the current
situation.
He
recounted that lawmakers raised 286 asterisk questions and 599 non-asterisk
questions as well as submit three motions during the first and second regular
sessions of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw. A total of 22 committees, including four
standing committees of the Pyithu Hluttaw, contact relevant ministries to serve
the interests of the people.
The
Deputy Speaker stressed that just as it is necessary to work effectively for
the benefit of the region through inter-parliamentary cooperation, it is also
essential to coordinate efforts towards the capacity building of both Hluttaw
representatives and Hluttaw office staff.
The
Mon State Hluttaw Speaker and lawmakers reported on the parliamentary affairs.
The Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker viewed the Hluttaw assembly hall and
cordially greeted the lawmakers and staff.
